Mission Statement: The Michigan Equine Scholarship Fund is dedicated to the encouragement and investment in all qualified equine youth and/or the children of our military veterans involved in equine related therapeutic recovery, to offer access to the appropriate or desired post-secondary education, including but not limited to two and four year colleges and universities, community college and vocational and trade schools, regardless of economic circumstances.
Criteria
Youth – defined as any person at any age through the end of their 20th year that has completed high school or the equivalent of such as a G.E.D.
Equine Organizations – including, but not limited to: 4-H; FFA; NSBA; AQHA or any affiliates, such as MQHA, MSBA, OQHA, OMIQHA, etc.
Involvement – Must be involved with (ride, drive, race, halter, breed, train, in therapy with, etc.) a breed recognized by the American Quarter Horse Association:

*all recognized color registries must be the result of BOTH parents being registered AQHA
Further definition of INVOLVED –
The applying youth themselves participate in the equine activity
The applying child of or an injured US Military Veteran who, as a soldier, is undergoing Equine Assisted Therapy of any kind
Membership - Must be an active member of the Michigan Quarter Horse Youth Association or if beyond the age defined as Youth in the MQHYA, special circumstances will be considered, but an active MQHA membership must then be in place. Even if not a Quarter Horse, MQHA does offer the All Breed Futurity Show now, so there is a benefit to those required memberships. Membership requirement may not apply for children of Veterans.
